Getting Started
How do I start the program?
After creating your account and completing the quiz, you’ll see your personalized dashboard. Your first lesson is available immediately. New lessons unlock every 3 days.
How does the 90-day program work?
The program includes:
- 30 video lessons (unlocking every 3 days)
- Daily check-ins to track your progress
- Exercises after each lesson
- Community support
- Panic button for urges
- Streak tracking and badges
Can I skip ahead to later lessons?
No. Lessons unlock sequentially every 3 days. This pacing is intentional—your brain needs time to integrate each lesson before moving forward.
I missed a day. Will I lose my streak?
Your streak only resets if you press the “I relapsed” button. Missing a daily check-in doesn’t reset your streak, but we encourage daily engagement for best results.
Account & Subscription
How do I cancel my subscription?
iOS (iPhone/iPad):
- Open Settings on your device
- Tap your name at the top
- Tap “Subscriptions”
- Select Manstead
- Tap “Cancel Subscription”
Android:
- Open Google Play Store
- Tap Menu → Subscriptions
- Select Manstead
- Tap “Cancel Subscription”
Web (if applicable):
- Go to Account & Settings
- Tap “My Subscription”
- Select “Cancel Subscription”
Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period. You’ll keep access until then.
When will I be charged for renewal?
You’ll be charged on the same date each billing period (monthly or annually). You’ll receive a reminder notification 3 days before renewal.
Can I get a refund?
We offer a 30-day money-back guarantee for first-time subscribers. After 30 days, subscriptions are non-refundable except as required by law.
To request a refund, email hello@manstead.com with:
- Your account email
- Reason for refund (optional)
Refunds are processed within 7-14 business days.
How do I change my email address?
Currently, you cannot change your email address. If you need to update it, contact us at hello@manstead.com and we’ll help.
How do I change my password?
- Go to Account & Settings
- Tap “Email & Password”
- Enter your new password
- Confirm
If you’ve forgotten your password, tap “Forgot Password” on the login screen.
How do I delete my account?
- Go to Account & Settings
- Scroll to the bottom
- Tap “Delete Account”
- Confirm deletion
Warning: This is permanent. All your data, progress, and streak will be deleted after 30 days and cannot be recovered.
Using the App
How do I use the panic button?
When you’re experiencing strong urges:
- Tap the red “Panic Button” on your home screen
- Complete the breathing exercise
- Review your “why statement”
- Choose an action from the list provided
The panic button is available 24/7 and is designed for immediate support.
What if I relapse?
If you relapse:
- Don’t panic or give up
- Press the “I relapsed” button on your home screen
- Follow the restart protocol
- Your streak resets, but your lessons and progress remain
- Get back up and keep going
Recovery isn’t linear. Relapses don’t erase your progress.
How do I post in the community?
- Tap “Community” in the bottom navigation
- Tap “Feed”
- Tap the text box at the bottom: “Share your thoughts…”
- Write your post
- Tap “Post”
Remember to follow our Community Guidelines—no links, no swearing, no explicit content.
How do I report inappropriate content?
If you see a post or comment that violates our guidelines:
- Tap the three dots on the post/comment
- Select “Report”
- Choose a reason
- Submit
All reports are reviewed within 24 hours and kept anonymous.
Can I watch lessons offline?
Currently, lessons require an internet connection. We’re working on offline viewing for future updates.
How do I track my progress?
Your progress is displayed on your home screen:
- Days clean (your current streak)
- Brain rewiring progress (X/90 days)
- Lessons completed (X/30)
- Exercises completed (X/30)
- Badges earned
What are badges and how do I earn them?
Badges are awarded for:
- Streak milestones: 3, 7, 14, 30, 60, 90 days
- Lesson completion: 10, 20, 30 lessons
Locked badges show what’s ahead. Keep going to unlock them all.
Technical Issues
The app won’t load or keeps crashing
Try these steps:
- Close the app completely and reopen it
- Check your internet connection
- Update to the latest version (check App Store/Play Store)
- Restart your device
- Uninstall and reinstall the app (your data is saved to your account)
If the problem persists, contact us at hello@manstead.com with:
- Device type (iPhone 14, Samsung Galaxy S21, etc.)
- Operating system version (iOS 17, Android 13, etc.)
- Description of the issue
Videos won’t play
- Check your internet connection (videos require stable wifi or cellular data)
- Make sure you’ve updated to the latest app version
- Try closing and reopening the app
- Try switching between wifi and cellular data

Push notifications aren’t working
iOS:
- Go to device Settings
- Scroll to Manstead
- Tap “Notifications”
- Enable “Allow Notifications”
Android:
- Go to device Settings
- Tap “Apps” or “Applications”
- Find Manstead
- Tap “Notifications”
- Enable notifications
You can also adjust notification preferences within the app under Account & Settings → Notification Preferences.
I’m not receiving emails from Manstead
- Check your spam/junk folder
- Add hello@manstead.com to your contacts
- Check that your email address is correct in Account & Settings
If you still don’t receive emails, contact us.
My streak count is wrong
If your streak count doesn’t seem accurate:
- Make sure you haven’t accidentally pressed “I relapsed”
- Check your timezone settings on your device
- Contact us at hello@manstead.com with details
We can review your account and correct any errors.
Privacy & Safety
Is my information private?
Yes. We take your privacy seriously. Your recovery data is:
- Encrypted and secure
- Never shared with employers, family, or third parties
- Used only to provide the service
Your community username is anonymous. Other users cannot see your email address or personal details.

Can others see my activity?
Private:
- Your quiz responses
- Your “why statement”
- Your lesson progress
- Your exercises
- Your relapse data
Visible in Community:
- Your anonymous username
- Your posts and comments
- Your streak count (if you choose to display it)
How do I stay anonymous?
- Choose a username that doesn’t reveal your identity
- Don’t share personal information (real name, location, phone number) in posts
- Don’t use a profile photo
- Follow our Community Guidelines
What if someone is harassing me?
- Report their posts/comments immediately using the report button
- Block the user (feature coming soon)
- Email us at hello@manstead.com with “Harassment Report” in the subject line
- Include screenshots if possible
We take harassment seriously and will investigate all reports.
Is my payment information secure?
Yes. We never store your payment information. All payments are processed securely through:
- Apple App Store (for iOS)
- Google Play Store (for Android)
- Stripe (for web)
These are trusted, PCI-compliant payment processors.
Accountability & Community
What is accountability software?
Accountability software (like Covenant Eyes) monitors your internet activity and sends reports to someone you trust. It adds a layer of protection when your willpower is weak.
We recommend it but it’s optional. You’ll need to sign up for it separately—it’s not included in your Manstead subscription.
How do I find an accountability partner?
You can:
- Post in the community: “Looking for an accountability partner. DM me.”
- Ask a trusted friend or family member
- Connect with someone from church, a support group, or therapy
Choose someone who:
- Won’t judge you
- Will check in regularly
- You trust to ask hard questions
Can I use Manstead with a therapist?
Absolutely. Manstead is designed to complement professional help, not replace it. Many therapists recommend recovery apps as part of treatment.
Share your progress with your therapist if you’d like.

Who created Manstead?
Manstead was created by someone who struggled with pornography addiction and found freedom through structured recovery. The program is based on proven therapeutic methods including CBT, neuroscience, 12-step principles, and trauma-informed therapy.
Is Manstead religious?
The program is spiritually flexible. Some lessons discuss faith and surrender, but the core methods are science-based and work for both religious and secular users.
You can adapt the content to your beliefs.
What’s the success rate?
Success rates vary by individual. Men who complete the full 90-day program and stay engaged with daily practices have significantly higher success rates than those attempting recovery alone.
Your success depends on your commitment, honesty, and willingness to use the tools provided.
Can women use Manstead?
Manstead is specifically designed for men struggling with pornography addiction. The content, tone, and community are tailored to men’s recovery experiences.
We may create a women’s version in the future, but currently, the program is men-only.
Will more lessons be added after Day 90?
The core 90-day program includes 30 lessons. After completion, you’ll have lifetime access to all content. We’re working on additional advanced content for post-90-day maintenance.
